I've seen a Shamo hen vs. a Brahma hen. . . Wow can Brahmas put up a fight. There's nothing that can defend itself or even its babies like an Oriental Gamefowl though.
They also make GREAT moms.
Wow, really? I've heard Brahmas were really docile, (which was also what I heard about Langshans, and my Langshans were CRAZY lol. I've never had Brahmas.)
Classic Jungle Fowl / OEG are supposed to be really greats moms too! I know Sumatras are. Mine tried to attack a German Shepherd once. Through a screen. Defending her babies.
Wilder chickens--they know how to stay alive.
Well, you could always try hostas. Really big hostas. One hen screams Hawk and they all just melt away into the plants until it's gone... if you want to be really safe.
Being docile has nothing to do with having the ability to defend one self.
Brahmas are extremely docile, sweet, and have amazing personalities - But they're also very immune to being at the bottom of the totem pole, and last to get snatched from some predator.
