Which breed?

We've been thinking of adding 2-3 ducks to our suburban yard - We're having a hard time deciding which breeds would suit us best. We currently have chickens, but the ducks will be housed seperately.
Becaue our neighbors are close, we don't want anything too quacky, so probabally no call ducks, eh? We don't have a huge space for them, they will likely only free range every few days, so I'm guessing that means Runners are out... Eggs would be nice bonus, as would be a sweet disposition...

Which breeds fit us best? I'm drawn to Pekins, they are so sweet loooking, but am worried they are too loud. Any other brred you can think of we might like? Khaki Camps?

Hmmmm... if you want quiet and friendly I'd go with Muscovy. They don't quack at all and will come right up to be petted if you build a relationship with them. JM Hatchery offers some really high quality white Muscovy, but you may be able to find a local breeder with some of the other colors (chocolates and ripples are beautiful!).

Cayuga's are another option. They don't quack a whole lot and are truly lovely to look at. Mine are fairly calm and not really built for moving quickly on land... they're shaped like little black boats - LOL!

Both Muscovy and Cayuga are seasonal layers tho... Khaki Campbells are relatively quiet and will lay you a ton of eggs. They can be a bit high strung, though I've found them to be pretty calm around my place.

khaki campells outlay everything on our place chickens included. they lay early and often. we also have east indies which are a bantam duck but much quieter than calls
