I live in Arizona and I have to restart my flock, as all got killed. Which breeds do best in the heat?

Plymouth Barred Rocks do well in the heat, Red Sexlinks, Leghorns. I know there is more I just cant remember them. I also live in Arizona and have Rocks and Wyandottes that are three weeks old and dont seem to mind the heat. They have been outside since they were a week old. How did your flock get killed?

I had them at my aunts house in Levine because I was watching hers and I was going out of town the next week and she was supposed to watch mine and when I was at the grocery store the neighbors dog got in the yard and killed all but 1 hen and 5 roosters.

I don't think any breed can take heat any better than Black Australorps. Temperatures in the Australian outback where they are commonly raised frequently reach 115-116 F; and I used to raise Black Australorps in CA's northern Sacramento Valley where summer temperatures frequently reached 117-118 F (123 F once), and with shade, good coop ventilation, and plenty of fresh water, they did just fine.

Ya Australorps are really good in the heat. Another cali boy huh lol I was born and raised in So Cal. Sry to here about your flock, good luck with your new one, just make sure the coop and run are predator proof.
