hi so i have a hybrid layer type hen that has been broody for roughly a week, and ordered an assortment of 6 bantam hatching eggs which arrived yesterday and are currently sitting until this evening when i was planning on giving them to her. she is about 4 years old and has been broody previously (but we never gave her any fertile eggs), so far so good. but... i have found one of my new pekin/cochin bantam hens (which only started laying a month or so ago) broody and quite aggresive in a nest box earlier, although she may just be pretending as another one was pretending a few days ago. the chicks if i keep any would, when adult, live in the "bantam community" as i have a banty run, and a standard size hen run.
so my question is, would it be better to let the banty hen hatch them (if she is broody) or if i should play it safe and give them to the standard size which is extremely comitted to her ceramic eggs at the moment, and then when the chicks are 8-10 weeks put the ones im keeping into the banty pen? by the way the hen would raise the chicks away from the rest of the flock.
