First eggs from my pullets. Are they from Cochins, Orpingtons, or welsummers? Seems very light for a welsummers but she's the main one in and out of the nest box. So far the eggs have been laid outside on the ground though.

Congrats!! First eggs are so fun even if they are not your first chickens.
I am waiting for some pullets to start laying, should be soon.

It's really hard to say....they look like they have a slightly different shape and color.
So maybe one from a Cochin and one from an Orp?
Let's hope neither are from the Wellie!

The only way to be sure who is laying which egg is sit and watch the nests....which take the right setup and lots of patience.

These are my first chickens. The eggs have to be from the same pullet. I'm thinking Cochin's because my orps are younger. I'm just surprised the Cochin's would be the first to start because I have several other breeds that are acting like they are ready. Fortunately I'm able to rule them out since some are white egg layers, lol, and then I don't think an EE would lay these either. It is a very exciting time! After posting this I found a soft shelled egg out there. I guess its possible there are 2 Cochin's laying, but I'm only getting one a day so I'm assuming it is just one pullet. I am HOPING this is not from my welsummers, lol. I would love her just the same but.... A hahaha..

Yeah my Wellie did not lay as dark as I'd hoped, but it was still undeniably from her.
EE can lay brown too ..but again let's hope not.

There is a way to tell who's laying and who's not that's pretty definitive, I used it last year with the pullets pretty effectively:
Hmm won't let me paste....ok will type it.

2 bony pelvic points on each side of vent.
approx 1-2 fingertip widths apart - not laying
approx 2 fingertip widths apart - laying

I have tried that! Not on all of them. There's 18, lol, I don't want to go chasing them and stressing them out but I'll do it when they go to bed tonight. I had to clip their wings the other night so I left them alone a couple days :-)

And why did they decide to start laying mid day?? Don't they realize I want eggs for breakfast? lol. I ended up boiling the ones yesterday. They were so yummy!!!

They will be all over the place as to when they lay until they get things worked out...and that can change too.
Most mine lay between 9-3.

Yeah I read that. :-) I'll have to do some modifying, as their nest box is in a warm spot mid morning when the sun is coming in the coop. Just with the angle of my yard and set up. Its a work in progress!
