*sigh* I have a rooster quandry. I bought 8 EE pullet chicks in the spring. Well, 3 of the 8 are cockerels. In my flock there are 10 hens and 3 roos. Tooooo many fellows. I need to rehome one of the guys. My problem is which one?! There is a definite alpha roo. There is a definite whipping boy. The problem I have is the alpha and 2nd in command look almost identical and I want to keep the whipping boy who is COMPLETELY different in looks. If I rehome the 2nd in command, will the alpha and whipping boy reconcile their differences and manage to tolerate each other? The alpha and 2nd pal around and gang up on the poor underling. Will this work or should I just rehome the whipping boy?

This is what I SHOULD do...BUT the alpha is a STUNNING bird and will make gorgeous babies. As will the poor underling.

I have a friend that has 2 roos - they keep one separated from the rest of the flock and let the other one "have at it". Then they switch them out. They only have 3 hens...

If you wanted to make babies from both you could try something like this if you have the physical setup that could make this work. Good luck making a decision here.
