I have a pair of lavender-buff orpington crosses that were hatched together. One has tail feathers, one does not. I assume they're different sexes, but who is who?

I also have a lavender orp and an Easter egger who are about a week apart in age, one with tail feathers and one with a fluffy butt, but I figured it's easier to compare the two who are most similar.

I don’t know if it works for all breeds or just a select few, but if two chicks hatched on the same day but one develops a tail within the first few days then it’s a girl, while the one with no tail feathers and just fluff for the first few days is a boy.

Also, if the wing feathers reach the chick’s butt it’s a girl, if they’re short and not so close to the tail it’s a boy.

I think this works on Leghorns for sure, but I’m not familiar on it working for other breeds.
