Well, we ended up with way too many roosters.... I am really conflicted on which one to keep. We only want to keep one and possibly get more hens to replace the roosters. We have 5 roosters and 5 hens. Which rooster would you keep?

Cochin mix? I'm not even sure what this is but his name is Big Daddy and he is the only one crowing....

Easter egger. I really like this little guy even though he isn't very friendly yet....

Welsummer.... I like him too. I think he will be pretty.

I have two of these blue laced red wyandottes.... I'm not overly attached to them. I think I am okay getting rid of these two...

I like the Easter Egger. The place where we got my chicks from gave me 3 roosters and only got 7 hens, I have need to sell my roosters too. I'm going to base my decision on which one loves to cuddle the most, what one is more show quality, and the one who won't peck the hens all the time. It's really hard because all 3 of them love to sit in my lap and fall asleep. I also don't want them to go to someone who will eat them...

welsummer...he will be the prettiest...and I am sure if you get rid of the rooster that is currently crowing...he will start crowing

I have the same situation. I hatched out 28 eggs and am just finding out who is crowing and who isn't. What I am waiting for is to see , not only the prettiest, but which one isn't going to beat up my 82 lb dog. He should be embarrassed! Last night he walked out with me to fill up water and feed dishes and this little rooster chased him right out of the pen. Actually, I am waiting to see if one is friendlier than the rest. I had to get rid of one already for attacking my 4 yr old grandson. He was walking beside me to feed them. NOT acceptable. I also have twin 2 yr old granddaughters to think about. I was able to find him a very nice home. Thanks for sharing them. N

ice looking roosters

Go with temperment. Who is the most respectful toward you and your family, who treats the girls nicest. Hard to tell for sure at this younger age, but anyone especially aggressive or not respectful--any you just don't want to turn your back on--need to go.

Thanks everyone! I am trying to wait to see which one has the best temperment but it is getting hard waiting:) I am wanting to get more hens when I get rid of some of these roosters.
Sally- Your dog is gorgeous!! He looks so sweet. I have a Labradoodle and so far they haven't messed with him. The cat interests them quite a bit though, they follow him around everywhere. He isn't sure what to make of it!
