I have one 1 y/o BLRW (Fudge), and 2 mutts (of which Fudge is sire). Mr. Rosenfeld looks just like his papa; Spot is a Splash. I can't keep them all because they are tearing up the girls (I have 10).

Pro-Fudge: he is mellower, has gone through the super-stud stage; he's good to the girls, keeping watch and finding food.
Con-Fudge: he is older than the other two.

Pro-Spot: he is the most vigilant roo ever -- he paces up and down (nearly) all day keeping watch; he's very considerate about finding food for the girls -- if they don't come eat it, he doesn't eat it either. He can kick Fudge's butt.
Con-Spot: he is brutal with the mounting, and he's in that super-stud stage where the girls can't get any peace (even for eating). [I have him penned in a separate little coop for now]

Pro-Mr. Rosenfeld: he's very much like his papa, but younger.
Con-Mr. Rosenfeld: he, too, is in that obnoxious super-stud stage.

Poor Rosie is probably freezer-bound; the real contest is between Fudge and Spot. I hate to cull either of them because they are really good roosters, but I haven't been able to rehome any.

I would keep Spot and get a few saddles for the ladies.

Fudge is only a year old, and I'm always going to side with the nicer, more polite roo than the more aggressive one.

This.
One year old is no where near "old". He's mellow and the girls like him. Keep him.
