Which wire flooring for Chukar?

I have used 1/2x1/2 in the past with no problem with feet.. UC Davis recommend 1/2x1 which is a heavier gauge wire.Cages will be 3x12 with the 1/2x1/2 or 12x2.3 with the 1/2x1 with central supports. I am leaning towards the 1/2x1/2 since i have used it before and will be able to make larger caging but wanted to see what everyone else had to say. Any tips or recommendations would be great. Thanks!

I kept all of my smaller bird in 1/2"x1/2" hardware cloth. I never had any problems

I got a bargain at the farm store on 3 week old chukars and have never raised them either and was thinking the same thing about wire size.
