I am still trying to pin point the particular duck in the group that gets my attention by whistling at me. I have runners, rouens, and blue Swedish in a group of six. Sounds just like a human trying to get my attention with a whistle. I have learned to mimic the whistle and that is how I get them to come to me for feed or pool time and even to put them in their house for the night. If I am close to them and looking directly at them the whistler stays silent. The whistler has to date 5 different patterns of whistle tones that seem to mean different things. I have been searching the net to try to find out which one of my ducks could be the communicator for the group. Obviously he/she is shy and not wanting to be the one center stage more like a heckler in the back of the room it seems. Was very relived to hear someelse has a whistler as.well. Would like to know which breed is the most likely culprit or if all breeds have this potential to whistle and if it is the drake or hen that has this talent.
