We have some brown and white leghorns. We are new to having chickens. I am being told that leghorns are mean and will protect there eggs and not let you get them at times. I hope they are wrong. We want nice chickens. Can I get feedback from leghorn owners on this and any other info on them? Thanks!

I wouldn't necessary qualify Leghorns as mean, although sometimes they can be aggressive. However, they are typically high strung and flighty and don't make the calm and gentle lap pets of some of the dual purpose breeds.

Do the roosters develop there comb really early like at 2 to 3 weeks old and now at 6 weeks it's really big and red?

Yes, Leghorn combs develop early and get really large. Given your description of the size and redness of the comb, it sounds like you have a rooster. You can post a pic of it if you want its gender identified for certain.
