I believe one of my hens has some kind of white growth around her ear lobs. I'm not sure if its a fungus or something else. Before, I try to clean it (if that is the right thing to do) I was wondering if anyone had seen something like this and had any advice?

That IS weird! I'm sorry, i wish i could help you out! There are alot of smart people on here though, that know what they are talking about with chickens. Someone will help you out soon.. Good luck!

Same color on both ears and it looks like it does when someone hasn't been cleaning behind their ears.

Is it normal to need to clean around a hen's ears? I thought the old hen dirt bath sort of took car of all

Here's a closeup. The whiteness doesn't appear to be a substance caked on to the lobe, but a discoloration of the lobe. This is my oldest hen (Buffy). Could this be the ave equivalent of mamalian greying?
