my small mallard hen had this gorgeous white baby girl. She has grown quickly and is almost twice as big as her siblings. I have no white Drakes, big or small. Throwback?
She appears to be a snowy which results from two harlequin alleles. So yes, a throwback. This was my similar girl last year from a brown dusky Hookbill father and a brown mallard Hookbill. It took me by surprise too.
That makes a lot of sense and she is gorgeous. My snowy, thank you for the term, is a female as well. I wonder if it has something to do with genes. Maybe there are restrictions and only females can be born of that combination. It's neither here nor there I'm just curious. Thank you for answering my question I was wondering. I love this forum
