I'm not quite sure if i'll find the answers i'm looking for, but I figured this was the absolute best place to start looking.
About 4 months ago I purchased 5 ducklings from a local feed store.I was told by the hatchery that they were going to be golden layers but by the looks of these ducks they are definitely NOT. I'm thinking they are White Pekins, orange bill and feet with white feathers.
Now I figured by now I would have taken notice of which are ducks and which are drakes but no such luck. They have started laying already, usually 1 egg everyday now, not 1 each, 1 total from all 5. I can clearly tell they are mating in their pool but none of them have drake feathers and they vary in size and each has their own personality. They do always follow behind the biggest duck who protects the flock but I haven't seen it lay or mate yet.
Does anyone else know if their drake feathers come in later or will females try to mate with one another?
Any help would be very much appreciated!

You may not have any males... You don't need males to get eggs. But if you see them mating, the drake is the one on top. If you observe carefully, you can see the penis before he retracts it, if you need more confirmation. Since you are getting five eggs from five ducks, I think it is more likely you have no drake at all.

Only 1 egg in total daily. So I can't tell which it's coming from. Would it be okay if I separate them 1 at a time overnight and band the ones that are laying? I have a large brooder for babies and injured birds.

Honestly I'd just watch them and listen to them. Mating behavior should be enough. If you want to, you could catch them all individually and listen to them complain. Ducks have a distinct quack, drakes are a lot quieter.

If you pen them individually you might get zero eggs since that would stress them out.

Just listen to them! Drakes' (males) quacks sound like a raspy, scratchy quack while hens (females) have a loud, kind of annoying quack.
