Hello! I want to breed for egg color and feel like I have enough variety of hens and roosters to get started. My hens just started laying so I have been closely admiring and examining everyone's eggs. I have collected a few times this blue-green egg with white specks which I think is very lovely.

My questions are: is this a new layer characteristic or can I expect to see it continuously? Can I selectively breed for this kind of white speckled egg?

Thank you!

Based on my own experience (not positively sure) I think that it would continue to appear in the same coloring, but it is probably a characteristic of the specific hen, rather than an entire breed.
I'm curious! If they continue to appear this way I may hatch them and see if any offspring lay white speckled eggs.
