I have newly hatched chicks. I bought them as white sumatras, i am having doubts as they have white legs and silvery black backs. can anyone advise me what breed they actually are? or are they white sumatras?

It's hard to give you a clear answer on this. White is not an accepted color in Sumatras, because all attempts to get the color have resulted in undesirable genes like red faces, off-colored legs, etc. Since they are considered undesirable, it's actually hard to find them.

It's more likely that you were given blue splash Sumatras.

Thanks for the info

.Do you think the legs will darking as they get older or will they stay the same and are blue or blue splash a registered colour of sumatras??

I'm not sure on the legs. I know that some chickens like Ameraucanas and Dutch Bantams are hatched with orangish legs that eventually turn blue slate in color, so I think that same thing could happen to your chicks (they could change to the correct color). Blue is a recognized Sumatra variety, but Splash is not.

Ah yes, those there are known as.. cute!
Such little legs! Are you sure you didn't mis-hear Seramas? Hehe.
I know nothing of Sumatras, sadly. Just had to comment on the adorableness.
