We ordered from Mcmurray for delivery the end of February. Our delivery was a bit strange because we got a bunch of extra chicks, 4 ended up dying, and couldn’t 100% determine what each was. For example, we ordered and paid for 1 male blue Cochin. The box said they sent 2 of them (in addition to the free rare chick), but we think we had 4 in our box.
We ordered:
Red stars female
Black stars female
Barred rock straight run
Cuckoo Maran female
Blue Cochin male
Australorp female
Columbian Wyandotte female
Whiting true blue straight run
All of that to say, I believe the pics I’m posting are of whiting true blue, but I’m not 100% sure. We plan to keep one of these Roosters to potentially hatch our own Whiting true blue at some point, but we can’t decide which one to keep. Any advice on deciding? The grey one with blonde on his wings, doesn’t have fluffy cheeks, but the other 3 have fluffy cheeks.

The 2nd and 3rd are really pretty.

All pictured are Whiting True Blues or Easter Eggers, you can't really tell the difference, but the former is more likely since you actually ordered them. I would pick the cockerel the ladies like the most and is still non-aggressive towards people. Pretty sure Whiting True Blues don't have a set standard, so I wouldn't go off of looks

Totally agree with Rhodebar. Although if you're going to keep a rooster to get more Whitings or future Olive Eggers from your other girls- I'd err on the side of most wildly colored roo (that is, if you have a couple that hit the above criteria). Would be fun to see what kind of chicks hatch out from a Whiting roo and your variety of purebred hens!

The most colorful one (bottom photo) we call Frank. It’s short for Frankenstein because he looks like he’s put together from half a dozen different birds. He’s so strange looking and has the longest neck.

Right now we have a rooster (Martha) that has been managing the flock for a year or so. So, none of these guys have gotten their shot yet. But Martha has just started charging me and my daughter. So, his time seems to be limited and we’ll get a chance to see how these new guys do with the girls.

Not gunna lie... Frank was immediately my favorite. I have no idea what coloration/pattern he is- and frankly, I don't care. He's super cool! I'm at least a year from having enough space to have roos again- so I'm a little envious!

We got our hands on Frank and the first pic in the main post roo, whom I call Blondie. Here are a couple up close pics of their heads (1st Blondie, 2nd & 3rd Frank). We were trying to see ear color. Blondie and the grey w bright orange shoulders have the same iridescent, whitish green ears. Frank‘s have a bit of the iridescent but much more red. I’m not sure any of this has any significance, though I thought ear color was related to egg color.

For EEs it really doesn't seem to matter. There are some folks who think the red ears means the EE will lay green eggs, and white ears means they'll lay blue.

From my own and others' experience I know this isn't necessarily true- but of course some hens and eggs will map to this scenario!

Have you narrowed your choices to Blondie and Frank?

The last roo I had was a huge Blue Copper Marans who went from cool dude to attack me when I turn my back- in less than a week. So I get the need to swap in a nice one.

I think Blondie is really cute. His pattern is a bit unusual, blue and silver-gold.
