Hi Everyone I am new to BYC and was wondering who has a small flock in the city.
I live in Omaha, NE and my lot is 60ft by 100ft so my space is limited.
I have 6 chicks that will live in a small area. Their run is 10ft by 6.5ft with a roof,
they will also be able to have some free time out in the fenced yard.
Their coop will be a small 5ft long by 4ft deep by 5ft high...
it will have a heat light for the winter ( when needed)

I would like to hear from others with limited city space for their small flock!
Photos would be great...I will post some when it's all finished. TY

Welcome.
My lot's a bit bigger than yours and I started with six chickens as well. Their original house and run was also about the same size and I found out quickly that the run, while the minimum recommended size, was too small so I let them loose in the back yard. After fencing the garden beds to prevent them from total destruction, it worked well.

Six standard chickens in a house that small may not need heat (Go to Managing Your Flock for lots of discussions about this) and putting a heat lamp in with that low of a ceiling may actually be dangerous.

More room is better, especially on hot days so they can find a cool area.

Got one in chicago! I have 6 banties. Love my coop and my chicken run. Also do allow them to forrage.

Me!!! I've got only 2 pullets, they have 4x2.5 ft in the coop, plus two exterior nest boxes, as well as 4x7 feet in the run. They get out to run over to their favorite rosemary bush a time or two a day.
