In the Brooder
(1) I have had chickens growing up and just started my own flock 2 years ago.
(2) I have 5 hens, 1 rooster, and two drake ducks.
(3) Rhode Island Reds, barred rock, leghorn, black sex link, and black laced silver wyandotte chickens roam our land with a rouen, and a aylesbury.
(4) I really enjoy getting to see their different personalities and interacting with them. They roam the whole fenced in area of our property and are able to enjoy snacks from our yard that is not tainted with chemical weed killers.
(5) Woodworking is what I enjoy doing most, but I also like to go camping and being outside.
(6) My family has 3 dogs that are small enough for the rooster to think that he is top of the food chain. They often have to show him the rabbit that they caught as a pack. My wife and son love to go out and hand feed the chickens as well. We feed our chickens organic feed from the New Country Organics mill near us.
(7) I found BYC in a search for how best to care for my chickens. I have known about it for about 2 years and finally decided because I was not able to find an answer about what is going on with one of my hens. I love looking throught the website and seeing what ideas everyone has.
