who lays the largest egg

I want to know also. I have some plain red buff layers that I bought from a lady up the road who was getting out of the egg buisness. When I brought them to my place they started by laying jumbo and larger for the first two months I had them. Then a month ago one layed a three and seven eights ounce egg! Big as a goose egg. Three hens gave me two to three eggs a day all winter.

I'm sure any commercialized sex-link would be some large egg layers.

As for non-commercialized breeds - French Marans and Jersey Giants lay some pretty big eggs. Black Copper Marans, especially from Bev Davis lines, especially lay some BIG ones! And gorgeously colored too

The occasional hatchery-based Easter Egger can lay a consistent jumbo egg, but the odds of having one who does so aren't too great.

I got some pretty large eggs from a pen of RIR and black sex-links. One or the other layed an egg that had an egg in it.

Red Sex Link , lay the larges egg

I have : RIR , Ameraucana , Silkies , Golde Polish , Red Sex Link , White Plymount Rock , Black Cooper Marans , Lavender Orpington, Mandarin Ducks, Red Golden Pheasants.
