I used to think that chickens couldn't fly either until one of my Gma's dogs, a rat terrier, went after one of her game bantam roos. Bugger flew clear over the house from the back yard and into the driveway. At least I never worry about when the dog actually catches them, she never harms them, which is odd since she has such a strong chase drive. She just chases them like toys, maybe does one go around the house and trots off, little witch.

I had an EE pullet that wanted to get away from the roo so bad she flew up to the roof. That roo never mated her.
