We live in town and need to keep no more than 10 chickens and zero roosters. Currently we have 11 hens and 1 roo, ages 25 to 18 weeks (in my chart below they're listed oldest to youngest.) We want to try hatching some eggs next spring and have some younger hens in the flock so not everyone is the same age. Who would you cycle out of the flock and why?
I will say the BR and Smokey Pearl are more like pets and we will keep them forever. The cochin bantams are bonded, and one is a roo,and they're both frizzles.
