who stole my egg

I had a frizzle egg in there house. Well I told dbf to leave it we would get it in a little while. We left, was gone maybe a hour or so. We came back, no egg. Now I have not seen any snake ( does not mean there isn't one) but I have seen these rat things running around ( they have short tails). What could have taken it?

a number of things, snakes most likely because a rat wont take it if there is easier food to be had... maybe your silkie wants her egg back?

There was no shell no wet spot. That's why I'm not sure. She laid eggs before and didn't bother them. There could be a snake. Also I have my chicken feed in the house. I don't know what could be easier then a egg? My dog also killed a rat thing ( it has a short tail). I have ducks running loose and was told they will run snakes off. I don't know how true that is.
