Who vacccinates their own chicks?

That is true...isn't that the case for all vaccines?

Well, I ordered a bunch of them--along with more oxine which I use about once per year for a super-deep cleaning of my coop, more wormer and some more leg bands.

I was thinking about this one:

Poulvac

Coryza

but it's kind of expensive and it says you have to use the entire contents once opened and re-vaccinate in 3 weeks? So basically I'd have to buy two bottles at once to vaccinate them properly?

Hi, I get the Merecks Vaccine & the syringes from Twin City Poultry Supplies.

I only hatch when my broodies decide to. Last year, we had 2 chicks 2 months apart.
This year, we have 9 orpington chicks (broody and bator) that all got the shot on Saturday.
I have another broody sitting on 5 asst eggs.

Thanks for reminding me to order the vaccine!

I do for mereks and the shipping kills you. Jeffers when in stock I buy 5 at a time. They have to ship over night on part of the order. Sucks! Also im waiting for back order vacc. for Infectious Bronchitis. I only do my birds that I plan to keep because its a pain.

If I were going to pay high dollar for a vaccine, I think I would choose the MG vac over the Coryza. You know you can put Oxine in just fine mist sprayer and spray over their heads every once in while. I'm going to order a small fogger so I can do it at least twice a month. The foggers work better.

I vaccinate only for Mareks on the advice of the state vet. I would vaccinate for other things if it became a serious threat. I try to plan my hatches to have more chicks at once so the cost per chick is minimized & like one of the other posters, I order a bunch at once to spread the shipping costs. It's well worth the cost in my opinion.
