Whoa! What was that noise?

I opened the nesting box hatch and one of my girls was still in the box. She gave me the stink eye which is pretty normal and then made this weird clacking growling sound at me. She did it several times until I closed the box. What the heck? Is that just her way of telling me to bugger off? I've never heard her do it before.

Sounds like she's telling you to leave her alone. One of my girls does this too. It was quite a surprise the first time.!

I would actually LOVE for her to go broody. I would like some new little fuzzy butts this spring. Is that a sign?
