It has been raining here for a few weeks straight now. We are in Central Florida so the heat and humidity are still here even with the rain. These chicks were doing great until the rain. They are in covered runs and have a house to get in. Ground is dry in their pens. The only symptoms is not eating, loosing weight, laying around and fluffed up. I gave them wazine in case it was worms and electrolytes. We have also put a heat lamp with them at night in case they are getting chilled from the rain. They can get away from it. We have raked out the pen and changed all bedding. We have lost five in just 2 days. Any ideas on what could be wrong or any ideas on what else I can do to save the rest? Thanks,

Sorry you are losing your feathery friends. You are doing everything that I could possibly suggest. Hopefully someone else will see your post and be a little more helpful. Good Luck to you though. I will say a little prayer

Sounds like they may have coccidiosis, even at that age. All the dampness makes it worse. And medicated feed doesn't stop it, either. I treat with Corid for a week and it knocks it out. If you cant find Corid, get Sulmet (though Corid is better).
Have you seen hamburgery, mucousy poop?

I believe she is referring to poop that looks like a strand of hamburger meat and it is shiny and pretty much the same color as the red part of hamburger too. It looks much different than the regular poops. I hope she corrects me if I am wrong.

I agree with the others, it does sound like Cocci. Get them on Sulmet or an equivalent Now.

Treat as directed on the bottle, do not exceed dosage or time of dosage. The meds for Cocci are strong and can do damage if you OverDose them.

Ok I have sulmet. Went out and changed water to that by the bottle directions. Made some of the ones that looked the worst drink, one by one, and some of the others came over to drink on their own. I will look to see if I can find Corid but don't think so being it is a holiday tomorrow. I can't believe I forgot about sulmet. Thank you so much for the fast replies. I hope it helps save them. Again Thank you and I will let you know how it goes. I have over 3 dozen chicks in this pen so if it saves most I will be happy...
