Looking to blend with my flock raiser to reduce feed costs, i can get a 50lb bag for 12.50$ whole oats, this feed supply is organic.

Thanks! oh, the youngest ducks are 8wks..

I was searching for a thread where I had asked this question but couldn't find it. I know whole oats are okay for adults and rolled oats for young but I don't recall the age that you should give it. Per Storey's Guide, oats shouldn't be more than 5-25% of their diet (that is quite a range though)
I started adding rolled oats about 1.5 weeks ago to cut the protein. All of my birds will eat them though the chickens will pick them out unless that is all that is left.

Celtic knows alot about this and it may be on her website too.

I have been feeding my flock youngest 9 weeks whole oats for about 2 weeks now everyone is eating it fine. i think the very young ducklings would have a time eating it but for older ones doesn't seem to be a problem. Good price GQ.

I also feed whole oates and boss along with their grower pellets. They are 12 weeks and I've been doing it for several weeks now. They love it. I'm most happy because I've heard from others that it can be a challenge to get them interested in other grains. I didn't want to wait until they were adults to try something new.

what is boss? The babies will be 9wks by wed/Thurs this seems like the best way to cut the feed, i did check storeys guide and plan to stay within those guidelines.. i did a sample of some whole oats last week and after some initial.. what is that? lol they seemed to take to it fine mixed with their standard feed.

what Celtic has posted
http://www.celticoaks.com/feedtreatmentsmedicine-cabinet/what-we-feed/

I use Nutrena flock raiser instead of Masuri and do 1/2 flock raiser 1/2 Layer along with the oats and BOSS for the Ducks that are laying now

Hope this helps you!

Thank you i had read this before, there is also a calculator on Metzer site that gives you amounts for mixing your feeds. I cannot get either Nutrena or Masuri here only Purina or then i have to go to chicken feeds, like a pullet grower. The purina is a flock raiser crumble here. I also have drakes so i feed no layer feeds, i offer free choice oyster shell instead.
