I am trying to figure out who is the mama to our 4 week old chick that two of my silkies hatched out. It is fully feathered except for its head and is pure white with one or two teeny black specks on one or two wing feathers. It is also quite large with deep yellow/orange legs.
So I have a rescue rooster who looks identical to this bird except that he has white where this roo has grey.
(Sorry, I don't have a current pic of him, only a bedraggled one from his first few days here). We are almost certain he is an Americauna.
I also have 2 Barred Rocks, a Black Jersey Giant (who just died 3 days ago), an Americauna, a Salmon Favorelle, a Naked Neck, a NH Red, and a few others that I know can not be the mama because our chick came from a largish brown egg.
I can't for the life of me figure out who the hen was who laid the egg, and we are completely shocked that it is turning out almost pure white. Does anyone have any idea who the mama is?
