Out of my 14 chickens, only 3 are laying at the time. (the other ones are a 9, 8, and 7 weeks old. Every morning I get four eggs. Today I was surprised that I only got three. Then I remembered I only have 3 laying hens and a rooster. I know the rooster isn't laying eggs, is this odd? One is laying two eggs daily.

They must really like you!!

One of my Jersey Giants laid 2 a day for a while when she was just starting to lay. On occassion, I will get 2 from one of the hens but it is rare now that they are older.

...are you sure it's a roo?

...do you have a closed coop? Is there any possibility you have a wild hen coming in and laying?

I don't know what else it could be!

Coop is closed at night, they lay in the early morning no chicken can get into the coop.

Our neighbors have chickens but it's a hot rivalry and our chickens don't let them step foot into our front yard let alone the coop.
