Why am I starting to see so many predators?

x2!

There are plenty of squirrels, rats, dogs, and cats around. My chickens are probably the hardest thing for predators to kill and eat. They try anyway.

offer them bait before they get to your flock they are a lot easier to trap this time of the year

What others have said - It's winter and all food chain related. Just try to keep 'em safe, best any of us can do.

A few weeks ago, I went out to my coop to close my chickens in for the night and there was a baby possum sitting in one of their nests! All the girls were fine, roosting- just had to go back into the house and gets gloves to pick the baby possum up and remove it from the nest. It really was cute! I figured he thought it was nice and warnm and cozy and had food and water readily available too so how much better could it get?!
