I got my first chickens last summer in June and they were silkies, now I have three polish chicks since one of my hens went broody. Now multiple people on craigslist are selling SILKIE CHICKS!!! I have room in my coop for about two more, but my dad says NO! Believe me, if I was old enough to live on my own then I would probably have like 50 chickens or something like that. I already have a couple breeding projects I want to work on and so many different breeds I want to own. How do you guys cope with your chicken addictions?

Don't try to control it. It's pointless. Just let yourself be wrapped in feathery love :gig

About the only thing that gives me self control is that the more chickens I have, the more expensive and time consuming it'll get.
Very good point, M'Duck!

Yeah, it is super hard to control... But sometimes I think it's for the best I'm still living with my parents, so I can't just get however many birds I want.
And in answer to your question, well, I don't know. I don't think anyone does. I guess it's just a part of life to have an (odd) addiction to some things. :p

And this is somewhat relevant to this subject: I've been to a couple feed stores several times within the last week or so, and walked away with...no more birds! (Thanks to Mom). To be honest, as cute as they are, once they hit a certain stage, I get tired of them and want them outside as soon as possible, lol...they're just so messy and stinky (especially in the house).

Lol I used to think like you, “when I turn 18 I’ll move out and get any pet and as many as I want”...im turning 32 in a month, life doesn’t always work that way. My husband is more strict about me having pets than my parents were. Hopefully one day I can get chickens though.
