Why are my pullet’s wings like this?

I wasn’t sure where to post this, so sorry if this is the wrong thread, but I was wondering why my pullet’s wing feathers seem to stick out when tucked at her side. I’ve never seen it in another bird, but I haven’t seen many birds in person, so maybe it’s something common that I’m just not aware of? 🤷‍♀️

Maybe she is molting? mine are 10 weeks and I often catch them with a weird looking feather sticking out. Sometimes I pull it and it comes out, sometimes it needs a little more time before it falls out. I don't think it's of too much concern, I think chickens' feathers are part function, part decoration, especially for the heavier birds 😅

Chickens typically don't go through a complete molt until they reach 18 months. They go through several juvenile molts when they are chicks, up until they reach mature size. I think your bird is going through just that. If you open her wing, are there areas that are growing in flight feathers? It looks like her secondary flight feathers are not full length yet.

It could also be split wing, which is due to poor breeding and is a fault in most breeds.

She’s between 21 and 22 weeks old, and has begun laying. She’s a RSL that was purchased from Murdoch’s. Her feathers have been like that from the beginning. I can try to examine her wings better tomorrow, but I can’t do that and take a picture. They’re a tad bit flighty and aren’t thrilled to be handled.

My best guess was it’s just some little anomaly, some little genetic quirks that makes her all the more unique. I’ll keep an eye on them and see if they change as she grows older

Would be great to get some help to spread wing out and take pics.
Has it been like that since wing feather first grew in at about 6 weeks?
