Why are treats bad??

I work all day. i am so glad to get home and see the chicks....and they are glad to see me (because let's face it....I have treats!)

My mother raises meal worms and has given me hundreds of baby meal worms...they LOOOOOOVE them....

Tonight I gave them rinsed cottage cheese and they ate it off my hand....I'll stop giving them stuff if it means they wont do well...but these chicks are 9 days old and are growing like MAD....

I keep reading cautionary post about treats....is it really that bad???

Not if it's in moderation. Mine get treats too.

Just make sure their primary diet is their food.

I didn't start giving treats until the girls were about a month old ... don't know why ... just seemed like the right thing to do.

Yep, moderation is the key---and grit. Little fuzzy butts are soooo much fun!

And at that stage, they eat plenty of their feed all day long, so treats when you get home won't adversely effect them.
