I have a total of 9 hens that should be laying.
1 White Leghorn
3 Silver Orpington
3 Brahmas
2 Rhode Islands Reds

The leghorn and 1 Rhode island red is laying, and i think a Orpington is laying.
We recently built a new coop and they were right next to the construction, so they were stressed out about that. Its been weeks since its been finished, and we are still only getting 3 eggs a day.
Easter eggers, Faverolle, astrolorps, and Rhode island red pullets should be starting to lay.

I don't know their exact ages, but the one Rhode island red is 100% a nanny.
Orpingtons are probally 2 years or so
Brahmas are same age as Orpingtons

Hmm, if they free range, they probably have hidden nests, if not, not every hen lays an egg a day, some lay only 2 or 3 a week.
I have 15 hens and I rarely get more than 10 eggs a day.

Here's how to tell.....

Might want to.....
Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop/run for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.

Older birds are probably molting or getting ready to.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

They are not able to free range as we wanted them to be able to due to fox problems. Every time we let them out it takes 2.

Do you know which chickens lay 2 to 3 a week? the ones that lay 1 a day?
Leghorns
Lavander Orpingtons
Brahma
and Rhode island Red

How big is your coop and run?
Pics would be good.

RIR and LH will probably lay more, and sooner, than the others.
But every bird is different, only time will tell.
Time of year and diet can influence onset of lay.

Thanks! The one RIR got attacked by the fox, she is doing much better!
There is 2 runs which are both huge and a gigantic coop we call the chicken mansion.
Sorry, i cant get pics.
