As I've said before, I have too many darn roosters. They kill hens, they beat each other up, they're just monsters.

I had two broody hens underneath the shed, and I couldn't catch them. These are old silkie-cross hens, very good hens, and they're more like pets. They've been brooding for 20 days, but for the last few days, I realized they hadn't come out of the nest. So, I reach under, discovering one of the hens is right by the edge, and I pull her out, and find nothing but a torso and head. I was so shaken up; I love these birds. The other hen was in the same condition, they're eggs were thrown everywhere, cold or cracked.

I leave the God-darn roosters out all the time, and the monsters just won't die. Nothing gets to them, and for every hen that dies, there are three roosters to fill in. I'm so upset right now, and I just needed to vent. My poor hens.

That's been recommended several times... I just don't have the heart to kill them. They function properly, they're just arse holes.

I don't think it was the roos that killed your girls...but I'm still sorry for your losses...
It's a Karmic Law that your favourites are the first ones to go and the ones you wish would fall off the face of the earth stick around...

If you don't want to cull them maybe you could find a home for them. Maybe if they were separated they wouldn't be so aggressive. What kinds of breed are your roos anyway?

Sorry to hear it.

Rehome the roos and put your broody hens in a safe enclosure to sit on eggs. Sorry for your losses, but the solutions are there..you just need to do it.
