One of my cockerels, new alpha started to bite hand rarely when i lower it down to him. He doesn't run away from me, he doesn't haise his hackels or anything, he just bites. Why is that? Did anyone have that situation. Thanks

Hey, had this situation exactly and lovely folks helped me out. Hes showing hes more dominant then you, it wont be aggressive at first, but he will start to do it VERY hard and draw blood and make big bruises. You may also notice he will squat down a bit, hes trying to show hes dominant towards you and that your below him. you might end up having to get rid of him. Sorry. (I think hes also trying to mate. NOT a good thing, i waited way to long and just let him do it. Do not. It will be aggression)

He did squat down few minutes before, I didn't know why he does that, how did you resolve your problem?

Peck him back with two fingers. If that doesn't work, press him down a little to show him that you are dominant over him. Don't do either too hard.
:goodpost:The thing you shouldnt do is wait like i did, i waited to late and he got aggressive. Show somehow your dominant and dont let him do it

Cherrynberry provided a good answer! You somehow show your dominant. like pecking him back on the head with your fingers as she said.

Should I peck him from behind on head or on beak and on comb, also should I peck him only when he bites or every day?
Peck him right after he bites you, on the head. Press him down on his back (keep in mind that a chicken's lung is located on the back, near the tail, so be careful), and hold him there for a few seconds before releasing.

I have an OEGB hen that’s doing that! Didn’t think anything of it because she’s so small but definitely going to watch her more now to nip it in the bud. I thought it was weird that she only does it to me and not hubby!
