Why did my chickens stop laying?

Recently, we rescued a mother hen and her 10 baby chicks. When we had them, our chickens stopped laying.

Finally we decided that we needed to find homes for the mom and her babies. Now they are gone and our chickens still are not laying. They usually lay 1 egg each per a day. Now I only get 1. Why aren't they laying??????
