Why do Hatcheries have such odd shipping rules?

Here's a question I hope someone can help me understand, why I have to order 25 bantam birds? I know the whole thing about warmth and everything but what I don't understand is when I place an order for 25 chicks, there is usually 13 on one side of the box, then there is a divider with 12 chicks on the other side. They have all come this way for me. So WHY can't I order say 12 bantams for one side of the box and 13 standard chicks for the other. I could handle that. I could get everything I wanted in one order. I don't get it. Please inlighten me.

If thats what you want, you should just call them and ask if they would be willing to fill such an order. If they say no, call another one. I would think they would agree if you explain what you just said.

They might have different chicks hatching on different days of the week ???

I don't think McMurry is like that. I think you can order bantams and regular no problem
