Why do my hens love corners?

Hi all, just curious about this one. My six hens (1.5 yr olds) free range throughout the day but they always seem to gravitate towards the corners of my house- corners by the front door, corners of the garage doors, etc. When they stand in the corners facing the walls they usually make little sounds...not their usual sounds, unique ones for the situation. Just curious if this is a behavior anyone else has noticed and why they do it. For some reference, I don't think its due to Temps because they will do it whether it's 30 or 90 out...
