I can't sleep -- the wind is howling -- and one guinea thought it would be a good night to stay out. Only - I can't see her in the trees - or on the peak of my neighbors house - like she did the last snowstorm we had. This time it's rain and wind -- . I gave the ducks their supper at dusk -- and one guinea (of three) - came out of the coop for a quick bite. I didn't think anything of it -- they've been out free ranging on and off all winter -- and all day today. They know where they live - they're usually the first one's in at dusk -- and they seem alot calmer lately. They make me crazy sometimes -- Any chance she's nesting somewhere - or is it too early? I don't think something got her - because I was out walking around the yard with my dog -- just waiting for it get a bit darker out to round up and tuck in the ducks. The guineas live with the ducks.

One of mine is already broody. I'm in Southern California so it is warmer here but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Just found a small pile of feathers - over by the chicken coop - which is the other way from the duck / guinea house. Looks like she got cornered by fence and tree -- too quick to make any warning sound..?

Now have two -- and they don't want to go out today. Fine by me -- closed in their run. I was so happy to get through Jan - Feb without hawk incident -- first time. But now the fox is weighing in -- . My fault - regret -- . Back to high security measures -- for a few weeks. Hopefully collect some guinea eggs -- and get my perpetual silkie brooders to hatch them -- if Pearl is not up for the job. Ugghhh -- lump in my throat....
