Why does my blind quail keep 1 eye closed?

Hello my lovelies. Before I go any further, let's make one thing clear...I will not tolerate rude or disrespectful comments.

Ok, so I've noticed that lately my quail who happens to be blind has been keeping one eye closed for most of the day. I can only assume that this is due to pain or discomfort. So my question is if there's anything I could do to alleviate or help his situation.

So this is a new thing? Did he used to keep it open?
Does it matter that he keeps it closed now?
I would also assume it's because of pain or at least something discomforting. I don't know how you'd figure out just what's causing it though.
One thought. Does he only do it in the day? Not at night? Maybe check that. Maybe he's become sensitive to light? If that's the case maybe fashion him some little sun glasses or a pirate patch.
It may help and he would look cool as h**l.

U know what?! That's a very good point u bring up. Perhaps it has something to do with the lighting since I do have a lamp pointing directly their way. I'll readjust the lamp to where it doesn't directly hit his eyes and see if that help. Thanks for the advice. 👍🏻

I have a roo, being nearly blind on one eye. He got cataract on this eye and also closing it often.
I know from a friend of mine, who also had cataract (which were treated surgically ), that he saw a white, blinding wall when looking into a light, before surgery.

Same seems to be with my roo.

Yup, I know exactly what u're talking about. It's a white cloudy film. The same thing is occurring with my dog on one of her eyes. I think it's just like u said...cataracts.
