This 8 week old chick keeps making this noise. He’s well fed and has water available. The temperature is also alright. Any idea why?

My guess would be either he’s cold or hungry(most likely the former). Distressed chirps are high pitched and continuous and hunger/coldness is usually the reason, if he’s alone it may be because he doesn’t have any other chicks to snuggle up against so you could get a heat mat/lamp or put a soft toy in there for him😊

Chicks need to snuggle. When I raised some chicks without a mama, I had them set up in the little bathroom where I could warm that entire room to 85 degrees, & chicks had eachother to snuggle with, plus I hung a feather duster and they huddled together under it, as if those feathers were a Mama hen.

Chickens are highly social, but if you can't have 2 or 3 chicks, you'll need to provide this lone chick a snuggle buddy & make sure it's warm enough all day long. We certainly can hug too, but we humans often have work or school taking us away, can't be with a chick 24/7, so you'll need to set things up for this chick in your absence.

Stuffed animals are a nice idea, just make sure there are no choking hazards because birds like to peck at stuff, and something as innocent as a flapping ear, whisker, plastic eye or flowing strings could make for a deadly accident.

Good luck with your chick! Hope all goes well. I have many chickens & roosters that years later, still want my hugs. They never forget your love. ❤️
