Why does my chicken do this when i stroke her?

My chicken has recently started doing this every time i try to stroke her. Does anyone know why she is doing this? Any help or advice will be great.

That's nothing to worry about. She does that to show that she knows you are in charge. Chickens will do that for dominant hens, or their owners.

Squatting. Usually they start this just before they start laying.

Just a side note, some of my girls did this for weeks before actually laying, one has been doing it for about a month and no egg... but I think it depends on the breed and the birds personally as to what kind of timeline you're looking at when they start squatting

I absolutely love the satisfied shake they give after you've given them a good petting while they do the squat! It just screams "The world is great!" Sort of like the happy sneeze a dog does when excited, ya know?

I know next to nothing about silkies, I only got my first two 3 days ago. What I do know is that they're absolutely adorable fluff balls and I don't know why I resisted getting some for so long!

When they do that shake we always joke that they're thinking 'Eewh, get the human germs off me'

That's just her way of showing she knows that you are the boss its nothing to worry about
