Why does my chicken have no feathers on her butt?

My black sex link has no feathers on her butt it is just bare skin. It does not look like anything is wrong there is just no feathers. Anybody have any answers?

I'd be interested in knowing too. I have a Barred Rock like that. Her feathers are missing for about an inch and a half below her vent. The feathers she does have down there are stiff with what I thought was dried pee/poo. When we get warm enough weather, I'd like to wash those feathers but I didn't want to make her butt any colder than it was. She seems to be fine other wise. I see no other hen (8 more to check) with missing feathers and no creepy crawlies that I could find either.
