My husband and I were talking about this last night. Why ducks are better then chickens (for us at least):
1. As many or more eggs
2. Tastier eggs (we prefer duck eggs)
3. Don't scratch up the veggie garden.
4. They eat slugs and bugs.... we haven't seen a slug in years!
5. They are much easier to contain, a 2-foot fence is enough.
6. They're easier to control (you can herd them to whatever area you want)
7. They're more entertaining to watch.
8. Their meat is more versitile and tastier
9. IF you have enough space, they're less destructive then chickens.
10. Need less complicated housing and are more winter hardy
The bad part:
1. If you don't have enough space they can be messy
2. You have to go on an easter-egg hunt if you don't have them contained in the morning when they lay their eggs.
Just thought I'd share that.......
Please add to this list... pros and cons both.
