Why is my Duck posing so aggressive?

Hi Friends,

why does Katharina, my 8 months old duck suddenly behaves so aggressive?
When she sees me outside she retracts her head between her shoulders, puffs-up to look big, opens her bill and quacks aggressive.

I have not charged her or done anything bad to her. Hormones?

Has she been laying for an extended period of time ? That sort of posturing and vocalization is frequently shown by broody/pre broody ducks. Your girl may be thinking about going broody.

I could see a drake acting like that but not a female unless broody they can act really weird when broody.

She and another of my ducks have stopped laying a while ago and spend a lot of time, sitting in their empty (!) nests.
