Why won't my Cochins roost?

I have some 8 week old Cochins that refuse to roost! All my other chickens will jump up on the roosts and go to sleep. But the Cochins, heck no! I just don't get it. Why?


Also I've heard that if your chickens are from a hatchery they won't go broody as often as they would if they weren't from a hatchery. Is this true?

My two Cochins are 6.5 weeks old and they prefer to huddle together on the floor (in the corner) or roost on the lowest roost (only 2" above the wood shavings). In the past couple of days, the Cochins have moved up to the 2nd and top roosts.

I am holding off on installing the nest boxes thinking that my Cochins will claim them as chicken condos.

Cochins are slow to roost, but they will in time,

Gosh, they`re still babies. Give them some time to figure the world out. They`ll get it. All that broody stuff is up to each hen. Could be you heard right, but you can`t prove it by me.......Pop
