why wont my pullets lay in the morning?

I never get any eggs until 4:00 in the after noon. Why wont my birds lay in the morning like normal birds? My EE's will be a year old in Febuary. My brown leg horn was born in July, she started laying on Decen=mber 16 and stoped a few days ago.

I'v been around chickens of all breeds for 40+ years and they always layed eggs when ever the urge hit.

As a child Mom had us gather eggs befor and after school and double check at night before we shut the door for more.

My birds also don't lay before noon or so. They lay when they are ready to. Like roosters only crowing at sun rise, hens laying in the morning is a stereotype.

I always thought the girls would lay in the morning too. But since they're on the "every-14-hours-of-daylight" schedule, they lay when the egg is ready to come down the chute.

I would be curious to find out what "normal" is in chicken egg laying ? Mine lay all different times of day.......then ONLY egg I find in the morning is from one of my ducks

I have only two of my four pullets laying, one lays every morning like clockwork around 8am, the other doesn't lay until 4 or 5 pm usually.

Although one day around 11am I found them both crammed into the box together laying. :-D

I have been off for one week for the Christmas Holidays. I noticed that our hens lay eggs after 10 am or so. We usually feed our chickens around 7am and there are no eggs. Since I have been home during the day, I have checked the nest around 2pm and the nest boxes are full.I usually check the next boxes when I get home from work (4:30-5pm)
By the way- Thank god my hens are laying again.
They stopped laying for almost two months.

Anyway, I noticed this week that our hens tend to lay during the time period from 10am to 12 noon.
This is one of the few times I was able to watch the chickens during the week.
It is like another member (JohnnyJack) or something like that. It is relaxing and it helps me unwine.

My hens usually lay from 7:00am to 12:00pm. ????

Yeah, My girls lay sometime between 2-5pm...... sometimes when we go out at 5 we find a warm egg, sometimes its stone cold..... we average one a day with three bantam hens laying.

right now I only have to egg layers - my buff rock and one of the americana's - i start looking for eggs about 7 am never find any till around 10 or 11- but the other day we got one at 2:30 - so around here it is an all day easter egg hunt just for 1-2 eggs a day now when the rest start laying i am sure i will make the trip out there a few times all day long !!
but isn't that part of the fun???
