WHY?

I have ordered hatching eggs for my orpington, 12 and one of my silkie eggs were under here for two days,then she rolled one out of the nest onto the ground and ate it.Its been 5 days since then and she has not done it again,why would she do this and has this happened to anyone before?She is in a dog house that is fenced in inside of the run so I know it had to to her that done it.

The broody mama will know when an egg isn't viable and at different times during her sitting she will dispose of an egg if it is bad or dead.
